I dropped by the Office of Graduate Studies today to see about getting
accepted to Graduate School. I want to take a couple of classes in
January, and I might as well take them under some program. Those of you
who know me better may be asking yourself what program, Business or Law,
because those two are what I have been talking about. Well, I don’t feel
like I know as much about Computer Science as I think I should, so I’ll be
pursuing a M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering. The nice thing about
a degree of that nature, is that I can pursue both software algorithms and
hardware design under the same program.
Here is where I need some advice. One of the application requirements is
two letters of recommendation. The problem is, that the two instructors
that I know the most are not Professors with their Ph.D., but Special
Instructors on the level of Masters Degrees or Masters Students. And the
only Professor I would feel comfortable asking for a letter is a Math
professor. So what am I to do. I don’t know that a letter of
recommendation for Graduate Studies would even be acceptable coming from a
Special Instructor as opposed to a professor. Still, I can’t think of a
second professor to ask to write me a letter. I am going to ask the Math
professor anyway. He seemed to like me, and always encouraged me to put
forth my best, when I really didn’t, because I’m a lazy S.O.B.
Signed, in need of a letter.
