hahaha… good way to start weekend for nerdie programmers.

Jack… :)

>Jack’s dad however lectured him Friday night after I left about how he should not take our
>relationship seriously. He needs to keep dating. He didn’t say anything bad about me specifically just
>that I’m not what Jack needs (read: what he envisions for Jack). Which is fine. I can understand a
>parent having a different vision. I suppose if Jack, his sister and mother all approve of me he’ll just
>have to deal with being overruled 3 to 1.

Um… that is absolute shit.

Seriously, look out.  That tells you a WHOLE LOT about the guy.

1.  He doesn’t care if Jack is actually happy, rather he cares if he is happy with Jack.
2.  Sounds like he is still pretty controlling about Jack’s decisions, there comes a time when a fathers authority is not an absolute, and only exists because the son allows it.  Hopefully Jack won’t allow his father to assert such authority over him.
3.  DAMN!  People suck.  I can’t quite put into words all the bad impressions this would put into my head.
4.  Doesn’t sound like he is acting out of love for his son, but more love for himself – see 1.
5.  How can he possibly know at all what Jack needs?  Unless they are very close??? which is doubtful, usually the good relationship between father and son exists in adult hood becasue of the separation of the two after adolescence.

Then again… I could imagine my father saying something similar to me, if I brought the right person home.  My relationship with my father would allow me to take it in a positive way.  Meaning I wouldn’t put much weight on it, and I would partially know where he is coming from.  At the same time, I know my pops well enough to know he probably wouldn’t say something like that.

SHIT… I should post this, because I’m obviously reading WAY more into this than are you…and it certainly is not my place….

gee, MS, THAT is intuitive.

Thanks Microsoft… THAT is intuitive…

I want to add an LDAP address book to MS Outlook.  I search “Options” and find nothing, not even in the TINY address book sub dialog.

So I google…

WTF is it under “Email Accounts” for – it is an LDAP Address Book – it has VERY LITTLE to do with email.  The only relation is that there happens to be email address it there, but it has nothing to do with my email account.

*argh*

Just when I think MS is getting “better”… I stumble upon this.

ok… I get some crazy christian fundamentalist emails

I get some of what may be called Christian fundamentalist emails from my Aunt.

This one goes on with some fact and non-fact about Biblical locations that took place where Iraq now exists.

I was waiting for the punchline of some justification of war, but instead I was surprised with this little snip:

…America is typically represented by
an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages…  The
following verse is from the Quran, (the Islamic Bible)

Quran (9:11) – For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a
fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of
Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more
rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there
was peace. (Note the verse number

Then I was like – DAMN!  The Quran MUST BE RIGHT!  I think I’ll convert tomorrow.  😉

whew… I finally caught up on reading my LJ friends… I hadn’t read since the 16th!

That took a couple hours, and minimal replies, mostly to .

We are moved in, and there is still stuf to do, but we are starting to get very comfortable here.
